About Greg Dea

Greg is trained and certified as a Functional Movement Specialist (FMS), Selective Functional Movement Assessment Specialist (SFMA) and Hardstyle Kettlebell Instructor.

He currently serves the Northern Territory Institute of Sport in Darwin, Australia as Sports Medicine Coordinator and Sports Physiotherapist. In line with the evolution of Australia’s Winning Edge strategy in high-performance sports, and continuing his recent years as a performance consultant, his current role is more targeted towards coach development in movement competency, movement capacity, evidence-based return to sport guidelines, and training, which is guided by the neurodevelopmental hierarchy.

Greg recently headed the Performance Physical Therapy service for EXOS at the Shanghai Research Institute of Sports Science, Shanghai, China. He has previously consulted full time for Australian and British Defence Forces in Australia, Germany, and England for seven years.

Greg is a world traveller for professional sports service, professional study, and adventure, visiting 23 countries, competing in endurance road running in three countries after an early career as 200m and 400m track sprinter, Australian Football premiership and award-winning goal-kicker, senior Darwin Premier League captain (soccer), basketball premiership winner, golfing hole-in-one achiever, and recreational road cyclist.

Greg’s fifteen-year history in the field of sport and physical therapy has refined his special attention to performance-targeted athlete preparation, corrective exercise, movement assessment, and injury risk screening, assessing, and testing.
